Cleanse, detox, fasting, juicing, call it what you prefer. Is usually a program of detoxification of the body by only consuming water, natural juices for a period of time.
Most of our bodies are being used and abused on a daily basis and cannot keep up to the demands that they are given. We overload them so much the elimination processes slow down and toxins set in our systems. This causes many diseases and decreases our capacity to function optimally. Making weight loss and skin improvement hard to achieve.
Juice Cleansing allows the body to use the energy that is normally expended on the digestive process and use it instead on the eradication of toxicity, acidity and other contaminants.
We live in a toxic world, regardless of how healthy one's lifestyle might be, everyone can benefit from green juice fasting. Chlorophyll is the ‘’lifeblood’’ of plants and the chlorophyll molecule is almost identical to the hemoglobin molecule of blood. The remedial effects of it help purify the liver, relieve sore throats, help sores heal faster, destroy bacteria in wounds, reduce pain caused by inflammation and even alleviate symptoms of asthma.

The chef is always up to something, her detox programs vary from time to time and so do the results. For our last spring cleanse, we asked the guys to tell us about their experiences and this is what we got.

Shelbey:

Spurred by a book my mother recently gave me and a desire to push thru some spiritual blockages, I embarked on my first cleanse.  I was lucky that during the cleanse I didn't feel too bad...no headaches, decent energy...my only complaint was constipation. It didn't feel natural to me that during cleansing I wasn't releasing whatever it  was I supposed to be cleaning out.  However, warm Celtic salt water did the trick to get things moving.
The biggest shock came after I finished the cleanse. Immediately after eating something that wasn't good for me, in my case gluten, dairy, and red wine, I felt very fluish.  It really helped me determine which foods were best for my body. My skin cleared up from the eczema battle I had been fighting the past 2 years.  I noticed during the cleanse how badly I was taking care of myself.  I wasn't eating enough food, and when I did eat there was little nutritional value. The cleanse really jump started my new diet, which eliminated dairy and gluten.  I'm not strict.  I will still have a pizza when I go to Italy, but I feel much better when most of my meals are veggie based.  After, drinking only juice for 5 days straight, I now feel very full with a yummy vegan meal.
I would definitely do this again.

Caroline:

I had never fasted, juiced, or even went on a diet – but at my last rolfing session (like a deep tissue/sports massage) my therapist asked how my digestion was because my shins felt tight which indicated digestive issues. That got me wondering – well I am vegan, but I’m a lazy
vegan so how much processed foods am I eating? The next week Mi Vida, a vegan & raw food restaurant, announced they were doing a juicing program for 3 or 5 days. By the time I saw it I had one day to decide whether or not to do it. So I called the expert...(see more)
